"Akala ko basagulero ka lang. Basag ka rin pala"
The latest episode of Quaranthings: The Series is now out. Actually, it aired last Friday. So, this review blog is kinda late already but for the sake of those who haven't watched it (oh well, just for those who can tolerate some spoilers 🤭), I'm still doing this. According to the production, the series is just 8 part so I'm pretty excited as to how the story will go with only 5 episodes left. I mean what will happen? How will the conflict arise. With how things are going, it seems like there's still a lot to tackle. And this is a good thing, at least for the likes of me. I mean, Ride or Die is again successful in hooking they're audience to stay and crave for more. I just hope that they'll give justice to this clamor that we have by presenting a "feels-filled" ending (I am citing Gameboys and Still2Gether for this 'cause ...why not?).
Anyway, for this episode, I like that it's showing the vulnerability of the main characters. I'm a fan of the script! Siguro dahil manunula rin ako, naappreciate ko 'yung poetic perspective of Judah and Rocky's fair share of "Akala ko". That line---"Akala ko basagulero ka lang. Basag ka rin pala" Ugh! This hits my core! And I think not just mine but also those who are feeling broken especially in these times. Not that it just resonates deep struggles but it also it paved the way for Judah and Rocky to know and understand more about each other. I also admire that this series is showing how people tend to be in their most genuine and honest self upon knowing a stranger (Stark, Why you should talk to strangers, Ted Talks, 2016). And oh, I'll never get tired of praising the acting skills of the actors in this show. Ang galing ni Royce Cabrera! Sobrang swak ng role niya sa kaniya. Kyo Quijano on the other hand is also doing his best to compliment Royce. Sumasabay rin siya sa galing. Following Kyo's career, he's gone far already but with this series, you know that he'll still get better.
Gusto ko pa ring makita si Karl (playing the role of Beshie). I'm also a fan of supporting roles or what they call "best friend" roles and I think Karl did a great job in the first two episodes. Also, Gina Pareño! I need to see more of Lolly. Another thing that also excites me here is the idea of how will Jan Silverio or Glenn will spice things up between our beloved characters. Indeed, there are still more to see from this project. But yeah, with BL fever still on, I'm hoping that it'll surpass expectations. For now, let's continue supporting these kind of series. Let's champion love, fairness and happiness together--lalo na sa panahon ngayon.
